Adventures in ... Reading: The Brotherhood by Jerry Jenkins

The Brotherhood is the first in the Precinct 11 series by Jerry B. Jenkins. It follows Chicago police officer Boone Drake. He has a dangerous job in a dangerous part of Chicago, but he loves his job. Every night he goes home to a beautiful wife and adorable two-year-old son, so life is just about perfect. He attends church, but that is about all for his Christian duty. His Bible is a prop on Sunday morning, and he might pray before a dangerous situation at work, but that's about it. Besides, he is the one who got him where he was, not God.

But when the unthinkable happens, and he loses his wife and son, where does that leave Boone and his faith?

Add to this a case with a notorious gang-banger turned Jesus-freak, and Boone is on a wild adventure that will have you fast reading to the end.

The Brotherhood
does not shy away from some of the tough questions that have forever plagued humanity. Jenkins writes in a way that brings you along for the ride with Boone as he pushes through grief, searches for God in tragedy, and finds a way to live again.

This is my first Jenkins book, but it will not be my last. I have to get The Betrayal, book two in this series to find out what happens to Boone next.

(I bought this book on my own, and am in no way compensated for this review.)
