Adventures in ... Romans

One of my favorite pieces of scripture is Romans 8. It reminds me what I am set free from (the laws of sin and death) and who I should live by (the Spirit who is life and peace).

In times like the New Year when I make my goals for the next 366 days, it's nice to remember who I should live by and where I should set my mind; on what the Spirit desires. I'll fail my list of goals on day 2 if I'm not living by the Spirit. In fact, I already failed some of them on day 2. But there are do-overs and second (third, forth, fifty-sixth) chances even if it isn't January 1st. I love that.

So here's to a year more focused, disciplined, self-controlled, and steeped in Him.

"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:5-6

Hi Kristen -

My desire is for a closer relationship with the Lord and a character that reflects His presence in my life.

Happy New Year,
Susan :)

I love knowing that our God is the God of the second, third, fourth, etc. chance! Thanks for this beautiful reminder. Love the song!

Thanks for stopping by Life Lessons! Guess I never thought of the visual that comes to mind with different wording, but you're absolutely right! Now we know what that pile of rubbish is made up of!! Have a fantastic day! :)
